“WorldCast Anglers enjoyed another great trip to Playa Blanca on 4/6 – 4/13, while we battled some extremely adverse weather with 4 days of high wind, all in all we still had a great trip. There were 7 permit landed along with multiple tarpon and bonefish and a couple of snook. Several first’s were caught from, Permit, Bonefish, and Tarpon. The food, management and guides worked hard to make a tough weather week a success!! Thanks!”

The Yellowstone Fly Fishing Season is now closed until the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend 2013. Conditions are prime for the opener with the Firehole being the river to target and check out. Baetis, Midges and Caddis will be present if the weather stays cool and cloudy. PMDs will make a presence if the sun peaks out and warmer days progress. Salmonflies love the Firehole Canyon too!

Flat Creek in the National Elk Refuge is now closed for the summer season and will reopen on August 1st, 2013. Flat Creek from the western boundary of the National Elk Refuge (bridge near Dairy Queen) to the confluence of the Snake River is now open and water levels are stable. The mouth of Flat creek can be ok as well as the South Park feeding grounds which are now open if you are dying to fish Flat Creek; however, we would suggest you wait until summer.

The Henry's Fork is in prime fishing mode and reports coming back from the river have been awesome. Watch the Warm River, as it can decrease clarity with the current warm weather. The river is full of Salmonflies and Caddis in the lower reaches. Remember that the Ranch is still closed but the water at Riverside and downstream to Ashton is open as well as Vernon Bridge downstream to the confluence. The Box Canyon is also open to fishing. Dry fly fishing has been great around the Warm River and Vernon Area.

Henry's Lake: Closed and ICE is off. Henry's Lake opens this coming Saturday and we are pumped! This year will be the year of the Brook Trout in Henry's Lake, as well as the large Cutthroat and Cut-bow. The Idaho Fish and Game stocked around 300,000 brook trout fry, instead of the normal 100,000 annually, in each 2008 and 2009, and these guys are going to be big and hungry.
Lewis Lake: Closed and ICE is coming off.
Jenny Lake: ICE is off and fishing well. Looks for fish cruising drop offs and ledges. Small buggers, leeches and midges are going to be your best bets.

Clarity is decreasing from tributaries adding some muddy flow. It was a good pre-runoff run for the Snake. Thanks for some awesome early season dry fly fishing! Throwing white streamers below Jackson Lake Dam can provide some good fun. Otherwise, the rest of the river is off color.
FYI: The Bureau of Land Rec is planning on 4,000 cfs discharge from Jackson Lake Dam this entire summer season with Jackson Lake being drained to 18%.

South Fork flows are coming down to 13,000 cfs by Memorial day so expect plenty of changes in flows this week. Water Temps are warming and nymphing by the Dam is the best as Palisades Creek, Rainey Creek, Fall Creek and Pine Creek are making fishing below Spring Creek Bridge a tough option.
FYI - The Bureau of Land Reclamation plans on flows coming out of Palisades Reservoir to be at 13,000 cfs. This is good news, but they are planning on draining the reservoir. Check out our blog from more information.
