The South Fork continues to fish well. With flows dropping to 10,400 cfs out of Palisades Dam, fishing should only improve throughout the entire river system in a couple of days. PMD's, Hoppers, Caddis, Golden Stones, its all working and working well. With cooler weather in the forecast, fall may be right around the corner. So do not be surprised if you see some mahoganies on the next cloudy, rainy day. Look for some of the bigger fish in the lower river sections to get active with the water drop and key in on big hoppers and golden stones.
Flows on the Teton are getting lower and water temps are getting warmer. If you are going to fish the Teton, put on the water early, release fish fast and take off by the early afternoon. The Snake has finally dropped into shape and producing some great fishing days and should only get better and better. Hoppers, hoppers and more hoppers are buzzing around and with the next push of cooler weather, look for areas of the Lower Henry's Fork to come back into play.

Firehole River Yellowstone National Park
Flow: 271 cfs [08/27/08 07:29 PM]
Fishing on the Firehole is slow, but with the first push of fall weather, it should begin to fish better. The Northwest corner of YNP, Slough Creek, Pebble Creek, and the Lamar has seen some incredible dry fly fishing for big cutthroat. Hoppers, Ants, Beetles, and PMDs will provide the most action.

Henry's Fork Island Park, Idaho
Flow: 897 cfs [08/27/08 07:35 PM]
Flows out of Island Park Dam have been stable the past couple of weeks and the Henry's Fork is still fishing well. Nymphing the Box Canyon with smaller Pat's Rubber legs and small tungsten bead head nymphs is the way to go. Look to decrease tippet and fly size, these fish have seen alot of flies by now. The Ranch has been slow to good, be looking for Callibaetis, PMDs, Midges and Flying Ants. The Warm River area is a great escape from the crowds for an early morning float. Streams, Small Attractors and Hopper Dropper Combos are working well.

South Fork of the Snake Irwin, Idaho
Flow: 10400 cfs [08/30/08 04:14 PM]
The Beauru of Land Reclamation dropped the South Fork's flows 2,000 cfs on the morning of August 28th. Yet, the reports from trips and anglers are that the fishing is still great. Maybe not as consistent as previous weeks, but still fishing well. Hoppers seem to be the trick and if you give the lower water a chance to settle in, the big browns will keep comfortable and begin to eat once again.

Teton River Teton Valley, Idaho
Flow: 405 cfs [08/27/08 07:48 PM]
The upper valley is fishing well early in the morning. Hoppers and Small Drys in the middle of the river have been producing some great fish, but don't deglect the banks. These fish can hold anywhere. Hoppers, PMDs, and Caddis are making up the vast majority of hatches.
The Canyon sections of the Teton are still fishing well. Water Temps are increasing so try to get on the water early and release fish fast. Smaller Golden Stone Patterns and Hopper Patterns have been producing some nice fish in the Canyon. The fishing has slowed during the warmer parts of the day but a simple dropper can fool the others.
