Henry's Fork Island Park, Idaho
Flow: 1220 cfs [02/06/12 11:42 AM]
The Henry's Fork is the go-to winter fishery for the next couple months. Paired with the new fishing regulations for last year (Box Canyon is now open to fish all year) - the Henry's can offer some great fishing days during the winter. The river below Ashton Dam to Vernon bridge is now closed. However, Vernon bridge down stream to the confluence, Island Park Dam to the northern Harriman State park border and Riverside to Ashton Reservoir are open all year to fish. Nymphing with small rubberlegs, zebra midges and small ptails and baetis imitations will be the way to go. Be on the lookout for fish eating dries on calm warm cloudy days.

Snake River Jackson, WY
Flow: 2110 cfs [02/06/12 11:44 AM]
The Snake River can have some good fishing days during the winter season. Access is good around the Wilson Bridge area as well as Jackson Lake Dam and some BTNF boat ramps. Nymphing will be the best but some days can offer dry fly fishing opportunities. Throwing white streamers for lake trout up by Jackson Lake Dam can be a blast during the winter.

South Fork of the Snake Irwin, Idaho
Flow: 3150 cfs [02/06/12 11:45 AM]
Winter on the South Fork can be allot of fun. Look for fish to move out of the big banks and riffles and migrate towards slow slack water areas and pools. Nymphing is the best but dry fly fishing opportunities can present themselves with the right weather conditions. There is still allot of water in the river for this time of year, so hopefully we will get a great recruitment class of juvenile fish for the seasons to come.

Teton River Teton Valley, Idaho
Flow: 0 cfs [02/06/12 11:45 AM]
The USGS guage is reporting "ICE". The Teton is open to fish all year; however, ice creates allot of challenges. Right now, most of the water in the upper Teton is frozen over with Ice jams throughout the river system. Wait for a string of warm weather to clear out some of the ice. The Henry's Fork and South Fork will probably present better options for the next couple of weeks.
