Meet the WCA Summer Fly Shop Staff: John Nelson
Meet the guys behind the scenes at WorldCast Anglers! Many are new to the area as well as WorldCast Anglers; however their passion for fishing and the outdoors runs true and strong. While you may not recognize their faces, they are working diligently and tireless to make your trip of fly shop experience a memorable success. Meet John Nelson!
John is originally from The Constitution State, more specifically, Woodstock, Connecticut. As a child, John was never inside. He grew up on a farm, and was always running around with his little brother in the woods, searching for fish to catch and game to hunt. Nowadays, John attends Roger Williams University. He is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, in hopes to achieve his dream job of being a Fish and Game Officer. When John is not in the library, he is cruising the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, saltwater fishing for Stripers, Bluefish and False Albacore. We are excited to have John on our team. If you are ever around the upper East Coast, head to the Ocean, and you’ll probably find him on a jetty, blaring George Strait and looking fish.
-Favorite Quote: “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
If you could fish with one fly for the rest of your life, what pattern would you choose? Why? If I could could catch fish on only a single fly for the remainder of my time in Teton Valley, I would probably choose a size 10 Gold Pavlovich Chubby.
-If you could take one person fishing, deceased or living, who would it be and where would you go. I’d take Tom Brady aka TB12 to the Henry’s Fork. I’m sure he would be a master of fly fishing just like he is a master on the football field.
