“I just recently received the new Scott Flex fly rod, wow! What a gift. On an earlier Smith River trip, I fished this rod on all ways a could think of and this rod can pick line up off the water! It’s faster than some of Scott’s earlier models, flows great with small dries, reaches well and does excellent with big dries and long heavy droppers. For a 5 wt, it didn’t feel “chunky” and stayed just as smooth! I wasn’t the only one to fish the rod over 5 days. 3 other users of different abilities could cast the Flex well and stick fish!
The Scott Flex fly rod easily generated line speed and tight loops. It casted accurately and controlled my presentations. Many times I thought I was fishing the Scott’s Radian! A light, powerful butt section rod” is what Scott says in their marketing and I agree, I use several different Scott rods regularly with trout and saltwater species, so fairly familiar with the Scott brand and I do love casting this rod!”
