Fly Fishing for Bikepackers with WorldCast Anglers Guide Kevin Emery: A hybrid blend of bike-touring and backpacking, bikepacking is vastly growing in popularity throughout much of Jackson Hole, Teton Valley and the Rocky Mountain West. Route possibilities and options are endless as you can cover more miles than walking/hiking while leaving vehicles behind that can not access certain trails and roads. Multi-day, overnight or day trip, bikepacking gives you the advantage as a self-contained adventure seeker on two wheels!
Like peanut butter and jelly, fishing and biking are a match made in heaven. Combining these two activities is a wonderful way to bring family and friends together on adventures that will last a lifetime. Come join WorldCast Anglers on June 16th from 9 am to 4 pm, for this full-day clinic that will tackle the mysteries of fly fishing, bike packing and route planning. The morning session will be geared towards fly fishing basics followed by a catered lunch. The afternoon session will combine these skills with the bicycle. Specific curriculum will focus on fishing gear, knots, casting, catch and release, harvesting for food, entomology, fly selection, fish habitat, bikepacking gear, packing your bike, route planning and resources.
If you have your own equipment, please feel free to bring and use it. If not, we will have equipment to demo and use for the educational casting session. A raffle of donated items from local and industry sponsors as well as a silent auction for a guided float trip with WorldCast Anglers guide Kevin Emery. Raffle and auction proceeds will benefit two non-profits, Mountain Bike the Tetons and Backcountry Hunters & Anglers.
