Farquhar Atoll – Seychelles Fly Fishing

Farquhar Atoll - Seychelles Fly FishingFarquhar Atoll – Seychelles Fly Fishing: Cyclone Fantala caused significant damage to the infrastructure on Farquhar atoll. FlyCastaway will be utilizing the MV Maya Dugong mothership for lodging and accommodations. – Farquhar Atoll is commonly referred to as the most diverse saltwater flats fishing location in the world and since opening has attracted ambitious anglers looking to knock up to a dozen species off their list in one trip.  This remote location is the most southerly atoll in the  Seychelles chain of islands, lying just over 700km to the southwest of the main island of Mahe. It is by no means an easy place to get to but the fishing alone will leave you thinking about this angling paradise for years to come.

Farquhar Atoll - Seychelles Fly FishingThe Farquhar Atoll is comprised of a group of islands with a central, ear shaped, lagoon that provides easy access to endless flats, channels and surf zones which is the primary reason for Farquhar’s diverse fishery. A very small population of local Seychellois call the atoll home while running a small line fish program and operating as the skeleton crew who manage the island and air strip. For the most part, the atoll appears completely void of human life or influence.
